About Us,

Well, well, well…well, where to even begin. Since I’m the sole owner and member of this business, should this be about me or the business? It all started when I was 4, kidding.

Safe Haven originally was intended to be a D&D themed bar. Complete with dudes in wench clothing, and women with dwarvish beards on. We’d have a DnD heavy aesthetic, private rooms, and all the resources needed to play. The name at that point was The Kobold’s Cave. However, as I built the business plan, it evolved. It slowly morphed, like some eldritch horror, adding in video games, board games, a library full of nerd literature. The business plan started to reflect my values and beliefs, like livable wages, philanthropy, easing entry into nerd fandoms, better our communities, and executing all Gatekeepers with a guillotine, just like the French Revolution.

Eventually, it became the Frankenstein's Monster of my various dreams growing up. One part owning my own bar. Second part, doing nerd s*h-tuff until the day I die. And the last part, bringing positive change into the lives of nerds everywhere.

That last part is incredibly important to me, because my early childhood was chalk full of trauma and poverty. The two basic ingredients needed for any healthy and mentally stable life. This caused me to grow up with severe social anxiety. Except, when someone started talking about anime, LOTR, video games, D&D, or any nerdy interest in the world. Then my anxiety would simply disappear, just like magic.

And that's my ultimate goal with this business. I want to create an atmosphere that fosters socializing; whether that takes the form of teenagers meeting other teens that love the same fandom, or adults drinking at night finding someone that rates Studio Ghibli films in the exact same order
